What makes us old? Is it the loss of the suppleness in our body or our mind? I think the loss of the suppleness of our mind, or stagnant thinking, ages us faster because it is our beliefs and perceptions, not our genes, that control our body.
As I have aged, I have become aware that the other thing that erodes my vitality—leaving me feeling depleted and old—is trying to be someone I’m not. On the other hand, when I allow myself to embrace my authentic nature I feel alive and ageless. No, I don’t have the capacity to do the some of the things I could do when I was younger, but now I am capable of doing things that bring my heart great joy and remind me of who I am, which I could not do when I was much younger.
So if you are feeling old, stop and ask yourself these questions: Am I feeling old because I have become too rigid in my thinking? Have I lost track of my authentic nature? Whatever the cause, changing your perception of the situation and then changing your approach can help you feel your youthful vitality again.
The ICWIB program, especially the first activity “Just Scribble,” is a great way to go inside, reconnect with your authentic self, and rekindle your youthful vitality again. With this in mind, I would like to invite you to explore some of the ICWIB art activities and videos for FREE.
