At Peace

The idea of having everyone do what I want and possibly fulfill my every desire may create a temporary delusional high, but I don’t think that approach to life could really give me long-lasting happiness or bring about inner peace. I have found that I experience inner peace when I am deeply connected to my authentic nature, my purpose, and what is important to me.

Mister Rogers used to say, “There is only one you.” When I am that one person, I feel content, happy, at peace, and I feel like I belong. This may seem simple, but actually it can be difficult or at least a challenge if you were raised in an environment that was critical and judgmental.

Remember, a young child’s mind is not capable of challenging the wisdom of the words that fall from their parents’ mouth, because their mind in the first six years of life is in “copy-and-paste” mode. If you are made to feel wrong, stupid, or unworthy in any way, that belief will become part of your subconscious download and mold your life until you change it.
