In this three-minute video, Dr. Bruce Lipton offers a scientific look at the relationship between stress and the immune system. Being in the middle of a global pandemic I feel this is a valuable reminder of why decreasing stress is vital for good health and a well-functioning immune system!
Bruce illuminates about how stress weakens the immune system by releasing hormones like cortisol, which cause blood vessels to constrict (part of the fight or flight response) and push energy to the arms and legs (instead of your gut and organs). By redirecting the energy the immune system uses for rebuilding cells—for protection— is the body’s way of temporarily conserving energy for survival.
However, your body still needs to replace hundreds of billions of cells every day!
This growth can’t happen when the body is in a continual state of fear and protection. So learning how to shift mind states—move from protection to growth or rebuilding cells—is an important skill set to have especially in the middle of a pandemic.
