This short video talks about how childhood trauma changes the brain. It also talks about how one secure attachment with a daycare provider, preschool teacher, or other adult in a child’s life, even if there are no secure attachments in the home, also changes the brain and can give a child a seed for resiliency. Yes, they may still have difficulties, but because they have had this one secure relationship, they have the potential to do very well.
I feel it is important to remember that we don’t have to be a therapist, or a doctor to make a difference in a child’s life. We only need to be kind, understanding and present. It is also very helpful if we have deep self-understanding so we have the ability to be fully present and supportive of the child.
With this in mind, I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB! art activities and videos for FREE because they are a wonderful way to help you reconnect deeply with yourself and in the process have the ability to make a difference in a child’s life.
