I like people, but their behavior often confuses me. They say they want to accomplish something and yet they never find the time to develop the skill set necessary to accomplish their desired outcome.
When I was in training, I had to learn a lot of unique skills. This didn’t happen miraculously. This was not a onetime thing, but something that I had to practice over, and over again.
In fact, on the days I wasn’t focused or demonstrating what I had learned, my trainer would ask me if I really wanted the job or should they work with a different dog.
This would startle me because I did want the job.
At the same time, I wasn’t aware of the amount of work this would require.
This also reminded of a story that Nancy Marie shared with me.
A friend of Nancy Marie was marveling at one of Nancy’s drawings and said, “I could never draw like that.” Nancy in response said, “That is not true. You could learn how to draw like this, but what I think you don’t have is the desire and willingness to devote the amount of time and energy necessary to learn how to draw like this.”
This is true in all aspects of your life.
So, when you find yourself having trouble accomplishing a goal the first question you should ask yourself is: How much time and energy have you devoted to accomplishing my desired goal?
Then if you really want to accomplish your goal and need some support, I suggest you explore the I Create What I Believe (ICWIB) program where my friend Luke will demonstrate the ICWIB activities and/or attend the FREE Drawing in the Now classes that are taught by Nancy Marie over Zoom the first and third Monday of the month from 4:30 pm-5:00 pm PST.
