Halloween is the day we can officially wear a mask and pretend we are someone else. I also think this is a time where we can reflect on how we allow or don’t allow other people’s appearances dictate our perceptions and judgement of them. The masks provide us with an opportunity to see the truth and unbridled character behind the mask.
Do you allow yourself to be swayed, influenced, or fooled by someone’s disguise or persona? Do you allow their view of others and the world to mold and dismiss you? When you choose your costume for Halloween are you going to choose to magnify an aspect of yourself or step into being someone completely different. Think about it.
Then ask yourself, do you wear a mask on other days of the year and pretend to be someone you aren’t? If yes, is this deception born out of fear or planned for personal gain?
I have found that often a harden external persona often houses a soft and vulnerable interior. I have also found that a soft and vulnerable exterior often houses a strong and resilient interior or core strength. Don’t be fooled by appearances, but rather allow appearances to help you uncover others true nature.
We all wear masks from time to time. It is a way to protect ourselves, hide our inner most feelings, maneuver difficult situations, and explore new ways of being. On Halloween we are culturally given permission to explore being someone we normally don’t appear to be. Unfortunately, if we aren’t aware of our mask or the reason we feel a need to wear a mask we can lose touch with ourselves, our purpose and path.
Many people find that the holiday of Halloween allows them to return to childhood and try on a different approach to life. Whatever you choose, take the time to explore what are the attributes of the being that you are attracted to and make a conscious choice to bring those qualities into your daily persona. I am not suggesting you go to work in a clown or frog costume every day. What I am suggesting is you bring some of the qualities you admire in a clown or frog and incorporate them slowly into you your life. This can help you expand and become more authentic.
Then if you really want to become even more authentic and would like some support,
I suggest you explore the I Create What I Believe (ICWIB) program where my friend Luke will demonstrate the ICWIB activities and/or attend the FREE Drawing in the Now classes that are taught by Nancy Marie over Zoom the first and third Monday of the month from 4:30 pm-5:00 pm PST.

In a recent interview Dr. Bruce Lipton said, “…Freedom is the ability to create without the limitation of generational programming. The I Create What I Believe! (ICWIB!) Program is a gateway and a pathway into a new and better future because it allows children and (adults) to fully express themselves and to not be limited by the beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. This program also frees up children’s and (adults’) minds and allows their creative nature to create a better world for all of us, which is what we need right now!”
