Several years ago, I found myself becoming overwhelmed by amount of cruelty, negativity and dishonesty that was becoming part of the fabric of everyday life. I could not ignore it and the stress was compromising my life. For those who don’t know, I have Addison’s which means my body doesn’t make the hormone that is needed to activate your body’s natural stress response. So, this stressful situation was beginning to affect me in a big way.
Just not listening to the news or even reading the Sunday paper was sending me down a very dark and deep tunnel. With this awareness I knew I had to do something active to overcome the feeling of helplessness. I needed to do something no matter how small. I started focusing on intentionally raising the spirit of at least one person a day, but as the days passed, I realized I needed to do something bigger so my efforts could touch the hearts of many. Since I have a disability, I live with a medical alert dog who is an exceedingly kind and gentle soul with a heart of gold. I decided that he needed a column to help others see life through more compassionate and loving eyes.
This is the one-year anniversary of his column-Alex’s Insights. Over this past year he has talked about courage, purpose, love, dishonesty, cruelty, and the reason for healthy and transparent relationships. We all wear masks and costumes from time to time but what Alex has taught me over the years is the masks and costumes are not who we really are but rather who we think we need to be to be valued, loved, and survive.
So, I suggest that we gather together and help restore more balance within ourselves, our families and communities. Together, lets rebalance the scale from hate, dishonesty, and cruelty to one of love, respect, and acceptance of all.
Please note: At the end of each column are links to free tools and information to help you instill yourself with more authentic power and the ability to forge positive change.
I hope Alex’s column will provide you with at least a smile and possibly the desire to lift another person’s spirit.

In a recent interview Dr. Bruce Lipton said, “…Freedom is the ability to create without the limitation of generational programming. The I Create What I Believe! (ICWIB!) Program is a gateway and a pathway into a new and better future because it allows children and (adults) to fully express themselves and to not be limited by the beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. This program also frees up children’s and (adults’) minds and allows their creative nature to create a better world for all of us, which is what we need right now!”
