My mother used to say: It is not the cards we are dealt that decide our happiness; it is how we view and respond to a situation that makes a difference. Every turn of the road we have an opportunity to view ourselves as a victim or choose to be the creator of our own life. This is not something imaginary, it is real.
We are currently living in a time where dishonesty, and cruel and hostile behavior is becoming the norm. This is not the time to feed or reinforce a sense of powerless fear because that discourages innovative, courageous, and pro-active responses. So, whenever you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or confused, no matter what the situation, find a way to activate your childhood curiosity and delight with life because that will move you out of fear and into the present moment. Sometimes we need to make small subtle changes and sometimes we need to take bold action to change the course of our life.
So how can we know what kind of action to take? How can we trust ourselves enough to step out of old behavior and step boldly into our future when that is what is needed?
I think the more time we practice being present and connected to our authentic self the easier it is to know what to do and how to do it. So love yourself, trust yourself and allow yourself to change so you can move forward into a new and more fulfilling life.
