In this short video, Paula Byrne, worldwide teacher of transformational dance, shares how movement gets us under the radar of our minds and deep into ourselves. When we listen with deep curiosity to our bodies, we shift from our subconscious reactive mind into our conscious problem solving mind and become grounded in the present moment. Through subtle and simple movement, we can reconnect with the wisdom of our body so it can guide us through our daily challenges.
I think this approach to dancing is like scribbling with your body and scribbling with crayons and pencils can be like transformative dance. It is the act of moving in this curious and exploratory manner that brings us into the present moment. Moving in this manner is not something new—we all moved spontaneously in this manner when we were young. It was only after we were bombarded with criticism and judgment did we stiffen up and forget how to communicate with our bodies and our true nature. Turning back the clock with either scribbling with our crayons or scribbling with our bodies can help us restore our youthful aliveness-no matter what our chronological age.
Simply allow your hand and/or body to explore its full range of motion and in that simple process of exploring you will magically shift mind states and set yourself free! If you want to start with scribbling with your crayons and/or pencils, then I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB! art activities and videos for FREE.
