When I was around four years old my family lived in a flat in Chicago. At the time, my parents had also bought a piece of property outside the city where they were planning to build a house.
My father, who was great believer of the importance of observing nature in the decision-making process, drove out to the land in the middle of one of the worst storms in the mid-West to see how the water flowed. He felt this information would let him know where to place the house.
So why am I telling you this story?
I heard this story many times, but it wasn’t until much later in life that I came to the conclusion that it was a wonderful metaphor about life.
Now whenever I feel stuck this story reminds me that I just need to walk the land in the rain—or walk the project or problem— like my father did many years ago and trust that if I slow myself down, and take my time walking back and forth through the mud or in this case, my muddled brain in a gentle and focused manner the answer will emerge—just like it did for my father many years ago.
With this in mind, I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB activities for FREE because they have the ability to help you slow yourself self down, go inward and walk the ‘land’ of your challenge and ultimately find a solution without getting wet.
