Today I would like to tell you a story about Trust, Respect and Learning…
I read an article when my son was an infant that changed my life. The article said there is no such thing as a perfect parent. In fact being a perfect parent, i.e. never making a mistake, was not a good parent because it would not prepare your child for life. If you really want to be a perfect parent that really prepares their child for life, then you need to make lots, and lots of mistakes.
You also need to acknowledge your mistakes the minute you realize you made one and then you need to make restitution for your error. This was a startling realization for me because it contradicted my whole upbringing.
Though when I put it into effect I discovered that I relaxed, and became more “real” and connected more deeply with my children. I also discovered they became less stress about making mistakes, which consequently helped them become more effective learners who were more concerned with learning then getting a teacher’s approval or fitting into another person’s agenda.
With this in mind, I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB art activities and videos for FREE. Why? They have the ability to help you slow yourself down, go inward and connect more deeply with yourself and others.
