As a child with learning challenges I always needed to find the connection between things in order to understand, remember and apply them. I never realized the significance of this “gift” until much later in life, because I thought everyone had to reflect, connect, find the common denominator and cross-reference every new piece of information they learned in order to remember and apply it. It never occurred to me that someone could just hear something and apply it. No wonder they could learn so quickly!
Now much later in life I can see that having to wrestle with and make sense of the sensory overload and overwhelming confusion of life in this tedious manner has provided me with a unique ability to see the connection between seemingly unrelated situations and to translate that information to others who are currently mired in their own temporary maze of confusion.
The moment I realized the “gift” I had received from my very difficult beginnings the angry, and resentment dissolved and in its place was gratitude.
So if you would like to uncover the unique thread running though your own life I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB! art activities and videos for FREE, because they have the capacity to help you restore balance, and gain a deeper sense of yourself with activities as simple a scribbling and drawing circles and lines.
