Today I would like to talk about surviving stress. I have talked about this topic before, but feel it is important to talk about it again because of all of the stress created by the pandemic.
Within each of us is a tolerance or intolerance for the opposite states of chaos and order or predictability and unpredictability. This is a biological phenomenon not a psychological phenomenon. Since the body is designed to always reestablish balance, if you cross your system’s threshold for either too much imposed order or chaos then it will automatically attempt to restore balance by creating the opposite.
When we feel stressed it is an indication that we have crossed our body’s threshold. When that happens I think the question we need to ask ourselves is: What caused the imbalance? Too much chaos or too much imposed order? This information can help you identify the origin and stay centered, and clear during difficult and challenging times. It is also important to remember, that imposed external order or chaos can be created by others or by us.
With this in mind, I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB! art activities and videos for FREE because they are a wonderful way to help you discover if you have crossed your threshold for either too much imposed order or too much chaos. The activities will also help you restore balance quickly and effectively.
