Several years ago when I was having lunch with my friend Barbara she began talking about how she didn’t feel like she was enough or what she had to offer the world was enough. At first I was startled because what she was saying didn’t fit with my experience of her at all, but instead of saying anything, I just sat back and listened.
As I sat there listening some questions began rolling through my mind. Where were these beliefs coming from? Why did she feel this way when my experience of her was so different? And then a small voice within me said, “This is her enemy. It may sound different than yours, but it is the same. It came from the same place and it needs to be handled in the same way—so listen and learn…”
