What burdens your soul? What delights your soul? These seem to be very simple questions, but I think they are also the key to a balanced and joyous life.
When I was young, because of circumstances beyond my control, I found that the only way I could feel safe was to make sure everyone around me was happy and had what they needed. This was a tall order for a very young child, but I learned to do it because it gave me an illusion of safety and my survival depended on it. Unfortunately, in the process I lost touch with what delighted my soul and what I needed to be happy and healthy.
In my long journey back to myself, I rediscovered time and time again that creativity brought me great joy and delighted my soul. Creativity also taught me how to be more present, connect more deeply with myself, and to feel safe and comfortable in my own skin even when others are not happy. These simple changes changed the quality and course of my life.
If you would like to explore using creativity to connect more deeply with yourself and uncover what delights and feeds your soul, I invite you to explore some of the ICWIB art activities and videos for FREE.
